Course Descriptions
Basic Rider Course
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Basic Rider Course (BRC) is designed for riders with little or no riding experience. The MSF “Basic E Course” is a key component of the Full hands-on Basic Rider Course and is part of this course. You will be given a login at the time of your registration that allows you access to the online E Course. You must complete the E Course and bring your completion certificate prior to the riding portion of the course. Classroom instruction and approx. 10 hours of riding exercises in a controlled environment provide a complete introduction to motorcycling. The course is conducted over two, or three sessions. Motorcycles are provided and students are encouraged to bring their own riding gear. Prerequisite: students must be able to ride a bicycle.
What you will need to bring with you:
- If under the age of 18, a completed parental permission form (prior to the first riding session)
- Pen or pencil for taking notes
- Department of Transportation-approved helmet
- Eye protection (glasses, goggles, or face shield)
- Long-sleeved shirt or jacket
- Long pants
- Sturdy over-the-ankle boots
- Full-fingered gloves
- Foul weather gear (courses conducted rain or shine)
- Snack/lunch and non-alcoholic beverages
- Sunblock, as needed
Motorcycles ARE provided for this course.
Note – Successful completion of this course waives further Department of Licensing Permit testing.
Women Only Basic Rider Course
This Women Only Basic Rider Course is the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Basic Rider Course for women with little or no riding experience. The MSF “Basic E Course” is a key component of the full hands-on Women Only Basic Rider Course and is part of this course. You will be given a login at the time of your registration that allows you access to the online E Course. You must complete the E Course and bring your completion certificate prior to the riding portion of the course. Classroom instruction and 10 hours of riding exercises in a controlled environment provide a complete introduction to motorcycling. The course is conducted over two or three sessions. Motorcycles are provided and students are encouraged to bring their own riding gear. Prerequisite: students must be able to ride a bicycle.

Basic Rider Course 2
The Basic Rider Course 2 is an 7 to 8 hour course completed in one day that allows students who successfully complete the course to receive their motorcycle permit without further Department of Licensing testing. The MSF “Basic E Course” is a key component of this course. You will be given a login at the time of your registration that allows you access to the online E Course on your schedule. You must complete the E Course and bring your completion certificate prior to the riding portion of the course.This course is the perfect course for students who have experience riding a motorcycle, need to prepare for endorsement testing, returning to the sport without a motorcycle or who have been dirt riding and wish to obtain their license for the street etc.
Prerequisite: Students must have riding experience and be able to start/stop, upshift/downshift smoothly and have slow speed maneuvering skills. (If you are unable to perform the basic skills at the beginning of the skills portion of the class you will be excused from further participation without a refund.)

- Department of Transportation-approved helmet
- Eye protection (glasses, goggles, or face shield)

Basic Rider Course 2 +
The Basic Rider Course 2+ is a course completed in one day that allows students who successfully complete the course to receive their Motorcycle License without further Department of Licensing testing in one day. The MSF “Basic E Course” is a key component of this course. You will be given a login at the time of your registration that allows you access to the online E Course on your schedule. You must complete the “E Course” and bring your completion certificate prior to the riding portion of the course.This course is the perfect course for students who have experience riding a motorcycle, need to prepare for endorsement testing, returning to the sport without a motorcycle or who have been dirt riding and wish to obtain their license for the street etc.

Advanced Rider Course
A one-day course that complements your basic skills and helps with personal risk assessment. It includes a fast-paced classroom segment with several fun interactive activities to improve perception and hazard awareness. Range exercises enhance both basic operating skills and crash-avoidance skills. Improving your braking and cornering finesse is emphasized. The course is beneficial for riders on any type of street motorcycle.
What you will need to bring with you:
- Your own motorcycle
- Motorcycle insurance
- Your motorcycle registration
- If under the age of 18, a completed parental permission form (prior to the class)
- Pen or pencil for taking notes
- Department of Transportation-approved helmet
- Eye protection (glasses, goggles, or face-shield)
- Long-sleeved shirt or jacket
- Long pants
- Sturdy over-the-ankle boots
- Full-fingered gloves
- Foul weather gear (courses conducted rain or shine)
